With this vegetarian model of suet (historically it is produced from rendered animal fats) you’ll be able to present the proper winter substitute for birds that usually feast on bugs. This lipid-rich deal with may also help put together year-round residents for the lengthy winter and is kind of the draw for birds similar to woodpeckers, wrens, chickadees, nuthatches, and titmice. Supplies:

• 1 1/2 cups shortening (search for palm oil free choices)

• 3/4 cups nut butter (any type)

• 3 1/2 cups wild hen seed

• 1 cup fast oats

• 1/2 cup corn meal

• Ice dice tray

Steps:

1. Combine the dry components of hen seed, oats, and corn meal collectively and put aside.

2. Mix the shortening and nut butter in a separate bowl and soften. Stir till fully mixed.

3. Pour the melted combination into the dry components and stir till mixed.

4. Spoon combination into the ice dice tray. 

5. Freeze for one to 2 hours and place in your suet feeder!

Be aware: Not really helpful for out of doors temperatures above 50 levels .
