Within the days when color printing was extraordinarily costly, the Avicultural Society had particular appeals for funds to help the looks in Avicultural Journal of the occasional color plate. A well known chook artist was then commissioned. Though the entire run of the Society’s magazines may be discovered on-line, the plates hardly ever see the sunshine of day. Subsequently I made a decision to indicate one, on occasion, on this website. That is the fifth within the sequence.

The Blue-throated Barbet (Psilopogon asiaticus) is discovered at heights from 200 to 2000 metres. It happens from northern Pakistan and India by Nepal and Bhutan to Burma and China then south into Thailand, Laos and northern Vietnam. We’ve got seen this chook within the wild in Assam and in Bhutan.
The Asian Barbets (household Megalaimidae) are primarily forest-dwelling birds. They eat fruit, particularly figs, invertebrates and any small lizard which may be noticed.
