Leon Bear’s rescue story is unbelievable. It started within the spring of 2011 when a sequence of fierce tornadoes devastated a number of communities in Alabama the place Leon was residing in a shelter ready to be adopted. My colleagues at North Shore Animal League America deployed their Emergency Rescue Workforce to the world to rescue displaced and unclaimed animals. Horrifically, virtually all the animals in Leon’s shelter perished; just one cat survived, an exquisite grownup black cat who was discovered wandering round within the rubble. That was our Leon Bear, a really fortunate man!
For the following seven years, we doted on him. Howard even painted this treasured watercolor of our Leon, which I’ll treasure eternally. Then, 4 years earlier than he died, we found a slow-growing mass on his liver. We monitored it with ultrasounds each six months. He didn’t present any scientific indicators till the final week of his life when he stopped consuming and easily didn’t act like himself. He didn’t survive his surgical procedure.
Gosh, I miss him madly. He was the one cat I’d kiss on the top after I wished a want granted. He knew so many secrets and techniques and he by no means let me down. Howard and I contemplate him — and all black cats — to be fortunate charms. However sadly, many adopters overlook black cats and canines in shelters. In reality, that is so widespread that it has a reputation: Black Cat (or Black Canine) Syndrome. I noticed some statistics on-line that show that these candy, pleasant animals have a a lot more durable time getting adopted. Nonetheless, current research recommend that their adoption charges have improved considerably since rescue teams have introduced this phenomenon to the general public’s consideration by debunking the foolish myths surrounding these deserving pets
So proper now, in my coronary heart, I’m “kissing” Leon Bear on his head, which smells like heat peach pie, and sharing my want that every one black cats and canines discover loving properties quickly, beginning with these beauties ready for you at Animal League America’s Bianca’s Furry Pals Adoption Heart.
