A well-liked science speak about mitochondria on the Science Library

The Science Library of “Realfagbygget” organizes each semester a sequence of standard science talks, entitled “Kunnskapseplet”, providing an enviornment for college students, PhDs, researchers and different employees to speak about their work or different any subject they wish to focus on about.

My PhD venture is concentrated on the systematic revision of the household Orbiniidae (Annelida) utilizing mitochondrial genomes and nuclear RNA gene clusters together with morphological analyses. As soon as the outcomes had been generated and the ensuing dialogue began, I wished to take the chance to debate, in a chat on the Science Library, about one of many principal subjects of my PhD: the mitochondrial genome and its use in systematics. So, I contacted the library and we organized a chat on the 28.09.2023 with the identify “What can the mitochondria reveal about evolution?”.

I opened the speak with the idea of evolution in Pokémon!, and later I used the analogy of asking any form of info to an individual, the identical manner in systematics we’re asking evolutionary info to the mitochondria. Images: Nataliya Budaeva.

On the day of the speak, the library employees embellished the doorway of the library with books associated with the subject of the speak, and even a showcase with photographs of mitochondria and the poster of the speak!. College students, PhDs and researchers from “Realfagbygget” and different colleges belonging to the College of Bergen assisted to my speak, in addition to guests coming from different establishments outdoors academia, which gave me the sensation of transmitting data to a large viewers.

I extremely advocate giving a chat on the Science Library if you wish to talk your work out of your job circle.
