2022 Bartels science illustrator Liz Wahid creates artwork that’s impressed and knowledgeable by her adventures in birdwatching, in addition to her hands-on expertise caring for injured raptors as a Cornell College undergraduate (’18), when she labored with the Cornell Raptor Program.
When requested to create a digital portray of a fowl to grace a Cornell Lab of Ornithology tote bag (a profit for Sponsor-level members), Wahid knew she wished to tackle a raptor of some sort: “I selected Northern Noticed Owl to usher in a component of conservation. They’re ambassadors for forest conservation on the West Coast.” She hopes her paintings sparks curiosity so that individuals will develop into extra within the uniqueness of every fowl species and extra conscious of conservation points.
